How do I use the HTML remote control from an HTML5 capable browser

$

To use the new HTML5 remote control when away from a LANDesk Management Console.

Bring up your favorite HTML5 capable browser and in the address bar put

https://<machine name> or <IP>:4343

Then enter credentials that have rights to remote control.

This is an account with rights on the core server, not the computer being remote controled.

Remote Control via Management Console fails (LDMS 9.0 SP3)

I've been using Remote Control via the Management Console (as well as the Web Console) for almost a year without problems. I had to uninstall my Agent and reinstall, which also meant I had to access the Web Console again to download files before RC was possible. This I did. It worked for the first RC session. After that, I am unable to RC through the Management Console. I accessed the Web Console, thinking that may be an issue, but no files attempted to download.

There are no error messages. Nothing happens.

I can run the Management Console from the core (with my credentials) and Remote Control works as it should. It appears that something is not right with my Agent but I don't know what that would be.

I can RC just fine via the Web Console.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Agent twice.

Any help would be appreciated.

HTML remote control uses machine name/DNS and you want it to use IP

If for some reason you are not able to resolve machine name and therefor HTML remote control is not working when initiated from the console and you need to use IP instead.

You can go into Configure --> Agent status options

Use DNS.png

Uncheck the "Use DNS" box and when you select HTML remote control, it will now come up with the IP of the machine.

Remote Control History by Operator - scheduled report

I'd like to take this report & customize it to a specific group of operators & run automatically on a scheduled basis.

The report asks for parameters, but I'd like to pre-define the parameters (either on a daily or weekly basis) for a specific list of people across all devices.

Any help in modifying the existing or creating a new report would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Getting message credentials required when tryingto remote controle through gateway

I have 2 computers in a remote office that I would like to connect to through the Gateway appliance.  when it connects, I get the message they I need to enter the computers credentials.

These are not domain computers, however I do have the local admin user name and password.  that is not working however.

what exact format is the gateway expecting for me to enter these credentials?

username          or pcname\username

password

workgroup?        or  pcname          or blank          (this PC is not part of any domain.)

I've tried various combinations of this and nothing is working.

I know I have the correct usedrname password combination because I used these credential when I drove out to this remote office to install LANDesk.

i've been told that for our field office device that are not members of the domain, we should use a connection method other than Integrated Security being these device don't integrate with AD.

and I'm waiting for LD support to get back to me on setting that up. but in the mean time, how do I connect to these PCs to do other stuff?

9.5 Console - File Transfer during Remote Control missing

After upgrading the Core to 9.5 went around to everyone(12 helpdesk folks) system and upgraded their remote console to 9.5 from 9.0sp3.  Every remote console seems to work properly execept the File Transfer button and Remote Execute box are missing while performing a remote control via Direct or Gateway.  Console on the Core works fine, console on our Terminal Server works fine. Its not a rights issue. Anyone else seen this?

Losing the Remote session.

Hi

I have been experiencing a problem. Here is the senario...

I do a Remote Control to a pc.

Let say I im installing a software product on the pc and it requires a reboot (via a prompt which you need to respond to). I do that and it starts to reboot.

The remote session freezes at this point (undestandably) I then exit out of my Remote Control session using the x (Close).

I try to reconnect after that (the user says the pc is back up and they can log in) , but can't. I just get the blue screen.

It seems to be a problem that comes and goes. If I try the same pc the next , I can log on.

We are running Landesk 9.0.2.3

Latency between screen refreshes - remote control

Hi LANDesk Community,

WE currently have 1 core, with multiple software deployment sources, for example, core - Manchester Data Center, patch/compliance source - Kuala Lumper, Malaysia,

Now our current issue is that  from what i can see, the Remote side of things, if our Support Tech in South Africa was to remote to a machine in Malaysia, he would have to go SA - Manchester - Malaysia and then back correct?

Is there a way to change this, so he would be able to initialize remote connection from different places to relieve the latency he is recieving between screen refreshes, this is caused him to type, then not realised he has type any thing typing again to then realise he ha snow type it twice,

Hope the community understands my bleugh and they can help

Thanks

Danny

P.S we are using MS9 and SA and Mal have tunnels between Manc and them

Unable to find the remote control web service on 'ServerName'

I have a new install of LD 8.8 SP2 that I have set up to test with. When I try to RC a client from my test core server, I receive the error above and am asked for username/PW, which none work. I have done a search and found the following, but not sure how to add the -s switch, as I am right clicking on a client and selecting Remote Control from the list.

How HTML5 Remote Control works?

Run field in RC viewer not showing file from system32

Hello,

There is a program, nltest.exe, in the C:\Windows\System32 directory that resets the AD domain secure channel on the local machine.  When I try to run this from the remote control viewer, it gives a message that the file was not found.  If I try to browse to the folder to find it, the RC browser does not show it available, but I can browse to this path and see it available when logged into the computer.

Why would the RC viewer not be able to see the file?  I've checked the attributes and it is not hidden.

Thanks.

Message was edited by: David Gardner Sorry forgot some basic info...  LD 9.0 SP3  This happens both from the 32 bit console as well as the web console.

Remote Control immediately took a control and does not ask a user to authorise such action

Hi all,

There is a problem when  LD Remote Control immediately took a control and doesn`t ask a user to authorise this. The Agent Configuration set to that End user must grant permission for remote control session. This happens not at all machines.

LDMS version is  9.0 SP3

Only idea is to re install the agent, perhaps some RC component is broken??

Any ideas/advise would be much apprishiated

Thanks,

B

Landesk 9.5 Remote Control Multi-monitor

Under 9.0sp3 we had the ability to switch between monitors when using Remote control.  All, 1 or 2.  Under 9.5 we've lost that functionality and I can't seem to locate in our books, or on here where to turn it back on.

MAC HTML RC shows user credentials in address bar

Hi all,

We came across some weird behavior when testing HTML Remote Control, especially when the target is a MAC machine and the browser is Safari:

- Pick an authorized user and everything will be ok, user is logged in, the address bar shows https://computer:4343/index.html, as expected.

- Pick an unauthorised user and things get "bad". With IE/Chrome/Firefox, the browser tab freezes instantly and no page is returned. With Safari, a blank page is displayed after a few seconds and the user's credentials are displayed in the address bar. See capture.

The target machine runs MAC OSX 10.8.3. No problem when the target machine in a Windows 7 PC. The result is the same whether the browsers are executed on MAC or on a PC.

Not really secure... Is this a problem with the way Safari handles the HTML answer from the target MAC?

Thanks for sharing experiences/opinions/advices

Pending Restart - RDP causes pc to reboot

On LDMS 90 sp3...  Basically, when one of us from IT is out on a client pc & needs to connect back to our own pc to access AD or some other tool, if we have a restart pending from landesk, the pc will restart after we disconnect the Remote Desktop session.

Has anyone else experienced this & is there a way to stop it?

Thanks!

LDMS 9 Remote Control issue with Windows 7

$

Hello,

Some LDMS operators get issues with LDMS 9.0 SP2, when they remote access to a Windows 7 computer, only 1 person (operator or end-user) can use Keyboard or mouse. With Windows XP, both users can control Mouse/keyboard. Is there any way to allow both people to control devices on Windows 7 (32-bit) ?

Best regards
